Zeytinburnu Military Hospital

The building used today as the Zeytinburnu Municipality was built during the reign of Sultan Selim III.

The building whish was originally built as single-storey in 1828 under the name "Celephane" to serve as a military hospital to the Tophane army corps was later renovated and renamed as Zeytinburnu Askeri Hastanesi (Zeytinburnu Military Hospital).
Following long service years this building was run down by the order of Abdulhamid II. in 1893 and a new one was built.

While the hospital was actively serving during the Balkan and World War I, it was closed down in 1918 and has been used for other purposes in the Republic period.  After starting to use it as a hospital again by 1947 it was somehow closed down again in 1956 claiming that the present other military hospitals were sufficient enough.
