Perişan Baba Tekkesi (Erikli Baba) [Erik = Plum]

Erikli Baba Türbeh on the Zakirpaşa Street at Kazlıçeşme district, is a leading centre for Alevi people settled at Zeytinburnu and its surroundings.

Erikli Baba, also known as Eryek Baba or Eyrek Baba, is one of the of Alevi-Bektaşi tradition representatives.  The turbeh and its vicinity serve as a centre of various activities.
Erikli Baba, buried in the garden of the building that was used as a Bektaşi tekke in the past, is believed to be one of the caliphs of Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli.  The Erikli Baba turbeh and the tekke are restored by now and there exist two round tombstones with no inscriptions on them which normally refer to the buried.
Erikli Baba's interesting story is as follows:
One expectant mother craved for plums in the middle of a winter and kept asking for plums; "get me some plums, get me some plums".  This Baba has heard about this and he has worked out a miracle to offer to the lady a tree branch with plums and flowers on it.  The pregnant lady soon after gave a very smooth birth.  And this Baba from then on has been called as "Erikli Baba" due to his miracle.
The construction has been repaired and restored by the Society for Protecting, Maintaining Erikli Baba Turbeh and Tekke and for Culture and Solidarity according to its original form and now it serves as a stage for cultural activities.
