Investments in Zeytinburnu
Zeytinburnu, which was in minds due to the bad smells caused by the leather factories in Kazlicesme and to the shanties, is going through a great change by the action it took in 1999. The goal is already determined! "To be one of the attraction centers of Istanbul"
The Municipal Office of Zeytinburnu and the Metropolitan Municipal Office of Istanbul prepare and realize project within a great harmony and coordination for that goal to be realized.
The fact that Zeytinburnu was selected for the pilot project applied in the direction of the suggestions of the Earthquake Master Plan, in the year 2003, will give the investments in the county an acceleration.
Within the 2005 Investment Program of the Metropolitan Municipal Office of Istanbul, there are 20 projects with the cost YTL 214 million and 8 thousand to be realized in the county of Zeytinburnu. Moreover, a section of Istanbul Metro and the restoration works of the historical land ramparts also include Zeytinburnu.
The Municipal Office of Zeytinburnu, by the Kazlicesme Cultertown Project, aims at having many historical works restored and creating an environment where the history can be experienced with traditional food restaurants, touristy souvenir stores and cultural centers. Besides, it is planned that the historical fame of the county is planned to be made internationally well-known, by a huge leather products center and it is planned to be turned into a foreign currency source.
As well as the Cultural Island to include the area from Halic to the coast of Zeytinburnu, Istanbul Touristy Central Passenger Port, the gigantic yacht marina planned to be built, will be realized as the biggest yacht marina in Europe on the 250 thousand square meters coastline the property of which belongs to public and to treasure.
Construction of an open-air concert space, along with the yacht marina, in the zone is also under the scope of the project.
Within the Kazlicesme Transformation Project are also available the construction of the biggest congregation center of Turkey and of five-star hotels around.
Mayor Murat Aydin draws attention to that those projects to cost about 2 billion dollars in total will be realized with World Bank and international finance support and emphasizes the point that the government will not have to pay a penny. Aydin expresses that nearly two million tourists will be enabled to visit our country through the cruiser tourism, which is expected to show a huge improvement according to the projections by World Tourism Organization for the year 2020, and the congregation center.
The Global Giant Started up in Zeytinburnu
On the other hand; the two important hotels that are expected to be started up in Zeytinburnu within a year and a half should be mentioned about. Hotels Novotel and Ibıs, beyond being two hotels to be opened in the county, mean that Accor Hotels Group, the global giant, steps into Turkey market in Zeytinburnu. Accor, which has been waiting for the most convenient moment for our country for years, considered that it would be appropriate to invest here after observing the potential and the vision of Zeytinburnu and took its action.
