The home textile sector consisting of curtains, fabrics for curtains, towels, bathrobes, bed-sheetings, table cloths, brodé, furnishing fabrics products is a market of an estimated amount of 30 million dollars.

Two of 6 weaving factories that were established in Istanbul before 1930 were within the borders of Zeytinburnu. Between 1955 and 1973, 325 factories and manufacturing houses were established in Zeytinburnu.

The county, although not as much as it is in leather works, is a pretentious region also in weaving industry. Weaving industry forms a major part of economy of Zeytinburnu. In the weaving industry field, Zeytinburnu is at the tenth rank and is at the seventh rank in garments manufacture. Zeytinburnu is the retail sales center of Istanbul and the neighboring cities at weaving fabrics sector.

Zeytinburnu is one of the major centers where the fabrics produced in Kanramanmaras, in Malatya, in Gaziantep, in Corlu and in miscellaneous places in Istanbul are submitted for sale. The fabrics business zone near the Balikli Road in the quarters of Telsiz-Bastelsiz has become the biggest wholesales center of Turkey about woven fabrics within the last five years. The fabrics used for the ready-to-wear in Merter and the neighboring counties are taken from Zeytinburnu.

The greatest companies of Turkey at home textile products such as drapery are located in the Curtain-Sellers Bazaar on Turan Gunes Avenue, in Sumer Quarter.
Soon after the fabrics sector settled in Zeytinburnu starting from the 80s, the ready-to-wear sector has also improved fast. Currently, many weaving workshops maintain their productions both for in land and for abroad.
