Murat Aydin was born in Giresun in 1960. He was graduated from Faculty of Business Administration of Istanbul University. He completed his master program on management and economics in the same university.
At the 27 March 1994 elections, he was elected as a member of theprovincial council from Zeytinburnu.
He became the mayor of Zeytinburnu at the 18 April 1999 elections. At the 28 March 2004 Elections for Local Governments, he gained 53 % of the votes and broke a record among the mayors of AK (Adalet ve Kalkinma – Justice and Development) Party, and elected as the Mayor of Zeytinburnu for a second time.
Murat Aydin, who is married and has two children, has lived in Zeytinburnu since the year 1975. Murat AYdin, who can speak English, also holds the membership of the Council of Local and Regional Governments of European Council.
