Length of the district from south to north is 5.5 kms and width of the district is 2.5 kms from east to the west. Its is surrounded by Fatih in its east, Bakırköy and Güngören in west, Bayrampaşa and Eyüp in the north and Marmara sea in the north. Weather of the district is quite humid.
Average altitude of the district from the sea level is 30-35 meters. No territorial elevation is seen from seashore to the inland. Altitude reaches 51 meters in Maltepe Quarter, eastern part of the district. Territories of the district that were covered with small bushes before became dwelling and industrial areas today.
Sirkeci-Florya shore road passes from the south of the district, international E-5 highway connecting European and Asian continents passes through the boundaries of the district. Length of state land roads is 5 kms and of Provincial Road is 3 km. Length of international roads is 3 km. Railway connecting the Istanbul to Europe passes from the south of the district. Total length of the railway is 2770 meters.
